The Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP) represents the research-based pharmaceutical sector in the country. Its member companies are the trusted providers of quality and life-saving medicines in the Philippines today.
A non-profit and non-stock organization established in July 1946, the PHAP is composed of 42 national and global companies. PHAP works with patients, government, medical professionals and non-government organizations to improve the health situation of Filipinos so they can be healthier and more productive.
PHAP’s vision is to be the leader in advancing access and adoption of innovative therapies for a healthier citizenry towards nation building. Its mission is to bring together industry and other stakeholders to advocate for policies and practices that encourage access to innovative and life-saving therapies for Filipinos. Today, PHAP is a partner in advocating for Universal Health Care and other policy initiatives that positively impact patients and public health.
As a pre-requisite to membership, members abide by the PHAP Code of Practice aligned with international and national laws and standards. It also established the Integrity and Proficiency Program for the Pharmaceutical Sector (IPPS) which is a training and development program in line with PHAP’s continuing commitment to support the Government and private sector’s integrity and good governance drive.
In 2003, PHAP established the PHAPCares Foundation to serve as its corporate social responsibility arm. The PHAPCares Foundation undertakes initiatives to improve the health and well being of the sick, disadvantaged and victims of disasters.
PHAP is a member of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Industry Associations (IFPMA) and the Global Self-Care Federation (GSCF), both categorized as non-State actors with official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).
